ROCK HILL, S.C. — A York County social worker who decided the $300 she found at an ATM machine was better off with the person who needed it has helped reap a big reward for her employers.
Channel 9's partners at The Herald of Rock Hill reported Wells Fargo presented the York County Council on Aging with a check for $3,000 in the name of social worker Becky Wright as a room full of clients watched.
Wells Fargo handed out stuffed ponies to the senior clients on Wednesday, and threw in a collector's edition cookie jar shaped like the bank's signature stagecoach for Wright.
Bank officials identified the customer who lost the money at the ATM on July 27, and Rock Hill police returned it to a man who said he needed it for his family.
