Steve's Coats for Kids coat collection drive underway

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — WSOC-TV / The 11th annual Channel 9's Steve's Coats for Kids campaign kicks off Monday, Jan. 12 and ends on Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015. The signature coat collection day where we invite viewers to bring coat donations, meet Steve Udelson and other Channel 9 on-air anchors and reporters, will be held at the WSOC-TV Studios located at 1901 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC, 28206 on Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Channel 9 Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Steve Udelson is asking viewers to donate new or gently used coats of all sizes for children, especially adult sizes for older children and teens.

"The need has never been greater. We've collected over 90,000 coats in the last 10 years, and all 90,000 have been distributed as there will always be a need to fill," Udelson said.

Coats collected during this 10-day coat drive are given to Crisis Assistance Ministry for distribution to their clients through the Free Store located at 500A Spratt Street, Charlotte, NC.

Being the 11th year for Steve’s Coats for Kids, Channel 9 has partnered with Piedmont Natural Gas, Showmars, Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Hendrick Honda.
