CHARLOTTE, N.C. - For those who thought the first half of August was too cool, you will love the next few days.

The temperature hit 90 degrees Wednesday afternoon with the heat index in the low to mid 90s.

The heat and heat index with crank up a few more notches Thursday through Saturday before a cold front takes the edge off of the heat by Sunday.

The storm chances remain pretty low for Wednesday evening, Thursday and even Friday.

The relief from the heat arrives Sunday and into the first half of next week.

Severe Weather Center 9 is watching a tropical wave still several hundred miles east off Lesser Antilles. The National Hurricane Center said a 50 percent chance that it will become a depression in the next.
