The victim ran back to his home to call for help, KHOU reported. As he was explaining to his wife what happened, deputies said the man collapsed and died, the television station reported.
Investigators later determined the man had suffered a heart attack, KHOU reported.
“Our deputies will and investigators will do everything we can to find these people and bring justice to this family,” Deputy Thomas Gilliland told KTRK.
Deputies are searching for surveillance videos or possible witnesses to get a better description of the carjackers, the television station reported. If apprehended, the men could face felony murder charges, the sheriff’s office said.
