DETROIT — A mother and three of her children leapt to safety from the second-floor window of their burning house Christmas morning in Detroit; however, two other children died in the blaze, investigators said.
The Detroit Fire Department said the children, aged 4 and 6, were found dead in the living room, WJBK reported.

The mother and the three other children, aged 3, 8 and 10, were injured in the jump. The mother was holding the 3-year-old when they hopped from the window. The 8-year-old girl and 10-year old boy suffered third-degree burns. They were taken to a hospital.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
