A 14-year-old girl was arrested Sunday in a Dallas neighborhood after she fired a gun at a girl she was fighting, but instead, hit and killed an 11-year-old boy, according to reports.
According to The Dallas Morning News, officers responded to a call of a shooting at an apartment complex around 2 p.m. Sunday.
Dallas police said that from interviews, they believe that two girls were fighting in the parking lot when one of them fired a gun in the direction of the other, striking a “male juvenile bystander.”
The boy was taken to a local hospital, The Associated Press reported, where he later died. Dallas police said Monday the boy was 11 years old.
“Everyone involved are juveniles and this is just a horrible incident,” Dallas Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said.
Police did not name anyone involved in the fight nor name the boy who was killed, according to KWTX.
The girl who allegedly fired the shot ran to a nearby apartment complex and was later found and taken into custody by police.
