IREDELL COUNTY, N.C. — Longtime Carolina Panthers fan Jason Smith snapped a photo of a green North Carolina Department of Transportation sign that read "Newton 20, Denver 7."
Within days the photo of the sign off Highway 16 heading to Denver, North Carolina, went viral and was shared on Facebook more than 33,000 times.
Although the sign says Newton is 20 miles away and Denver is 7 miles away, Smith believes it’s a prediction for Super Bowl 50, where the Panthers take on the Denver Broncos.
Quarterback Cam Newton leads the Panthers, which has a 17-1 record this season and post-season.
Smith captioned the Facebook post, "A sign from the football Gods!! Go Panthers!"
