NFL execs: Kaepernick hated as much as Rae Carruth

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick might be the most hated man in football since Rae Carruth, according to an NFL executive.

Kapernick refused to stand for the national anthem last week during the team’s preseason game. He said he won’t support a country that oppresses people of color.

Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report spoke to seven NFL executives anonymously who said they would not sign Kaepernick if he was released by the 49ers.

Carruth, the former Carolina Panthers’ wide receiver, was convicted of planning the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams, in Charlotte in 1999.

Adams was shot, but her baby, Chancellor Adams, was delivered and survived. Cherica Adams later passed away.

One NFL executive told Freeman he cannot remember this much “collective dislike” for a player since Carruth.

“He has no respect for our country,” the NFL executive told Freeman.

Kaepernick will start for the 49ers in the team’s final preseason game Thursday in San Diego. He has vowed to sit during the national anthem again.
