SC mother says baby monitor was hacked, moved while breastfeeding

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A South Carolina mother said her baby monitor was hacked, and the camera moved while she was breastfeeding her son.

Jamie Summit, a first-time mother, told our sister station WCIV in Charleston she believes she was cyber-hacked.

The baby monitor runs through a cellphone app.

Police told Summit it doesn't matter what brand the monitor is, any device that uses Wi-Fi is vulnerable.

Summit fears what strangers could have seen.

"My son is only three months old, and God knows, what kind of images and videos out there of both of us and intimate moments,” Summit said.

Summit said she deleted the baby monitor app from her phones.

Police said it’s nearly impossible to track down the hackers, and the only thing people can do is change passwords.

Summit said she shared her story to help other mothers.
