FORECAST:

  • The brutal cold remains our big weather story today, with low chances for flurries or light snow (mainly down south) late day into the evening.
  • The NWS did issue a Winter Weather Advisory for the metro and points south out of huge abundance of caution for minor slick travel.
  • Worst case scenario, a few areas south and southeast may get a dusting to 1″ on the high end. Otherwise, no impacts are expected as the storm just stays too far south and very dry air remains in place here.
  • Bitter cold lasts all day long today as temperatures struggle to get even above freezing this afternoon.
  • Temperatures fall back down to the teens again tonight and we once again will struggle to get above freezing tomorrow.
  • Slight warm up later this week, with highs in the 40s, then the 50s return by the end of the weekend.
  • Next weather maker arrives on Monday, with just rain.
