Dinosaurs are taking over uptown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Take an epic expedition and travel back in time to discover what life was like in Antarctica 200 million years ago without leaving the Queen City.

“Antarctic Dinosaurs,” a traveling exhibition on display at Discovery Place Science, features never-before-seen dinosaur fossils, including the 25-foot-long Cryolophosaurus, from one of the most isolated environments on Earth.

Meet four new species of dinosaur, all discovered within the last 30 years, and get hands-on experience with real tools used by paleontologists to carefully extract fossils from the now frozen landscape.

The exhibition also focuses on the unique working conditions for the scientists who take part in these challenging expeditions.

In addition, while “Antarctic Dinosaurs” is on display, an accompanying IMAX film, “Dinosaurs of Antarctica” will be debuting in the IMAX Dome Theatre.

“Antarctic Dinosaurs” will be on exhibition from Feb. 8 through May 25.

Ticket prices are $26 for adults (ages 14-59), $22 for children ages 2-13, and $24 for members of the military and seniors age 60 and older.
