Giant illuminated mushrooms have sprouted in uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In many cultures, mushrooms are considered a symbol of luck, and to find one means that good luck is at hand.

Now, thanks to a collaboration between ImaginOn and Charlotte Center City Partners, there’s a lot of good luck sprouting in uptown.

“Shrooms” by Amigo and Amigo is an art installation currently on display at ImaginOn at 300 E. 7th St. It features 15 giant inflatable mushroom shapes in bold, colorful patterns designed to capture audience imagination and encourage people to explore and play.

The illuminated mushrooms, which have also been featured at international events such as New Zealand’s Highlight Festival and Toronto’s Light Festival, will be on display through April 18.

In addition to the installation, ImaginOn is providing fun activities for kids of all ages such as take-and-make kits, a mushroom book display and a mushroom fairy house window display.
