This Father’s Day skip the tie and socks and give dad something more memorable.

Spend the day with dad at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery where they’ll have a special menu for Father’s Day on Saturday and Sunday. Selections Saturday include a roasted rack of pork and a double cheeseburger. Sunday’s brunch menu features prime rib, smoked salmon and New England Benedict with buttered Maine lobster. Take dad to the ballpark! The Charlotte Knights won’t be playing but families can play catch on the field, run the bases and enjoy brunch Sunday. Dads also get to choose a Knights hat or T-shirt to take home. Reservations are required and cost $30 for adults and $15 for kids 12 and younger. Click here for more information.

Take a hike, but not just any hike – check out Chimney Rock at night. The park will host a guided “Nature at Night” hike from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Give the tasty gift of grilling. Ernie’s Smokehouse is offering a Father’s Day in-home grilling class. You can buy a gift certificate now and schedule it for later, and they’ll even put dad’s name on the certificate. Ernie’s will supply all the food needed for the two-hour lesson. Hit the river! Enjoy a guided flatwater paddle at sunset – choose between a flatwater kayak or stand-up paddleboard – on the Catawba River followed by chef-curated fireside dinner at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
