CLOVER, S.C. (AP) — Two men have been charged with attempted murder in a hammer attack on a man whose injuries were so severe he had to be taken by helicopter to a Charlotte hospital.
Police said a 38-year-old man was hit on the head with a hammer Sunday during a fight.
The victim's two children told deputies their father had been drinking with Cory Martin and Adam Martin outside their Clover home. An incident report says there was a dispute and the children went inside.
The children say then heard "loud bangs." They looked outside and saw the three men fighting. Cory and Adam Martin soon fled.
The suspects are charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and trespassing. It's unclear if they have attorneys.
