4 dead in head-on collision in Anson Co., police say

ANSON COUNTY, N.C. — A father, his child and his grandchildren died in a head-on crash Sunday morning.
 
The family of five was driving down Highway 52 between Wadesboro and Ansonville about 11 a.m. when they were hit head on. The mother, who was a passenger in the vehicle, survived with broken bones.  She is currently at Carolinas Medical Center in critical condition.

A 2007 Chrysler van driven by Cheryl Powell Bailey, was traveling north on Highway 52 when it crossed the center lane and smashed into a 2001 Audi, driven by Ryan O'Neal Robinson, traveling south. 

Police said they hit headlight to headlight.  The three children in the car were not wearing seat-belts, according to police.

Robinson and the three children died on the scene.

Police are investigation whether speed and/or alcohol were a factor in the deadly crash.
