American Airlines cancels flights out of Charlotte after 9 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There were more than 300 delays and cancellations Wednesday night for flights heading in and out of Charlotte-Douglas ahead of the storm.

American Airlines said it is suspending all flights out of Charlotte after 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The airport is also implementing its winter storm plans, which includes activating its de-icing operations.

Starting at 6 p.m. airport officials will initiate its snow and ice control plan, which includes rotating snow teams to treat runways, taxiways and other areas.

Crews will also be on standby to begin de-icing operations on the planes if needed.
 
Inside Channel 9 noticed dozens of flight cancellations in and out of Charlotte. Flights to Atlanta, Chicago, Boston and Huntsville, Alabama have all been called.

Channel 9 talked to a man hoping to get to Chicago Wednesday night so he can ultimately get to Indonesia.

"It will work out. We may wind up a day late if we have to, but we'll get there," he said.
