COACH'S CORNER: William Robinson - Vance Boys Basketball Head Coach

None — Coach Robinson has been patrolling the baseline for 30 years and gets his coaching philosphy from some of the best ever. He coached one of the best teams in Charlotte, Vance, this season before running into a hotter team, West Charlotte, in the 2nd round of the sectional playoffs.

A: "30 years." Q: What's your greatest moment as a coach?

A: "Representing the U.S. as Head Coach of the USA East Youth Team in 1999."

Q: What's the biggest challenge of coaching high school age kids?

A: "Having them and their parents set realistic goals about their future as an athlete."

Q: If you weren't a coach what would you be?

A: "Counselor."

Q: What's your favorite pre-game meal?

A: "A hot dog and a soda."

Q: Do you have any pre-game superstitions?

A: "No."

Q: If there was one thing you could change about high school sports, what would it be?

A: "Not sure."

Q: Who is your coaching idol?

A: "I developed most of my coaching philosophy from three men ... Dean Smith, John Thompson & Bobby Knight."

Q: What's the best advice you've ever received from another coach?

A: "To" give God the credit & remember, it is not about you ... it is about the kids."
