Eyewitness News Morning Anchor Moves To Evenings

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Scott Wickersham will move from the early morning anchor chair to early evenings. He will co-anchor Channel 9 Eyewitness News at 5:30pm with Natalie Pasquarella. He currently co-anchors the Channel 9 Eyewitness News Daybreak at 5 and 6 a.m., Eyewitness News This Morning on TV 64 from 7 to 9 a.m. and Eyewitness News Midday at noon. Wickersham also reports Whistleblower 9 investigations.

Wickersham joined the Eyewitness News team in 2005. During his time at the station he has anchored live coverage of numerous major news stories. In 2006 he was live on the air moments after Charlotte- Mecklenburg police officer Kayvan Hazrati was shot in the head while serving a search warrant. In 2007 he anchored live coverage of the funerals of Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers Sean Clark and Jeff Shelton, from inside Calvary Church to the funeral procession outside through Charlotte. Also, in February 2007 when a major snowstorm nearly shut down the city, Wickersham co-anchored Eyewitness News continuing coverage for 9 straight hours; from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.

One of Wickersham's recent Whistleblower 9 investigations exposed serious security concerns at an indoor playground that resulted in major changes to keep children safe.

Wickersham came to Channel 9 from WLOS-TV in Asheville. Previous jobs include reporting and anchoring in Lansing, Michigan and Buffalo, New York. His first television job was producing consumer reports at WDIV in Detroit.

After growing up in Michigan, Wickersham graduated Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts. He lives in Charlotte with his wife, Candice and their young daughter.

Wickersham's move to evenings will take place as soon as his replacement is found.
