Governor's women's conference to kick off at Convention Center

CHARLOTTE, N.C.,None — Charlotte is hosting Gov. Bev Perdue's women's conference on Wednesday.

This is the fourth time the North Carolina Governors Conference for Women has been held in Charlotte.

Senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett will give the keynote address.

Organizers are expecting more than 1,500 people at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Perdue is expected to speak at the event that has been billed as an empowerment opportunity for women to come together to network and discuss new ideas.

The conference begins at 8:30 a.m. and could cause traffic to be heavy around the Convention Center.
