LOS ANGELES — During the airing of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday night, Kimmel got emotional when bidding farewell to retiring late night host David Letterman.
Kimmel choked up at the start and finish of his speech about Letterman.
Kimmel said he watched Letterman's show when he was young. He even had a "Late Show" themed birthday party.
"The reason I have this show is because the executives at ABC saw me when I was a guest on Dave's show -- and hired me to host this show. So I want to thank Dave and his writers and producers," Kimmel said, his voice breaking.
