MIDLAND, N.C. — A man is dead and a woman is facing charges after a deadly crash in Cabarrus County Monday morning.
Deputies said they responded to the crash around 10:30 a.m. on NC Highway 24/27 in Midland.
The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s office said the collision involved a Jeep Cherokee and a Dodge Charger.
The driver of the Jeep, 43-year-old Robert Arlon Mungo, was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS. No one else was in the car.
The driver of the Dodge, 39-year-old Christine Helen Biancoviso, was taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK.
Officers said Biancoviso was driving east on NC Highway 24/27 when she crossed the center line and hit Mungo’s car along the driver’s side. The impact of the crash flipped Mungo’s car.
Deputies said Biancoviso’s actions at the scene led them to believe she was driving while impaired.
Biancoviso was arrested after her release from the hospital and charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while license suspended, careless and reckless driving, driving left of center, and failure to wear a seat belt.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
