It happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday on Steele Creek Road near the Charlotte Premium Outlets and Intestate 485.

Police believe 58-year-old Mihael Stegne was riding his bike across across Steele Creek Road and was outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a driver headed south. Stegne, who was not wearing a helmet, died at the scene, investigators said.
