11 Charlotte neighborhoods get money for green projects

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Several Charlotte neighborhoods will receive city money to become more energy efficient.

City officials said so many neighborhoods applied for the grant money that the city is actually funding more than it had anticipated.

Eleven neighborhoods will use the money for energy projects such as purchasing green lighting and Energy Star appliances.

The following neighborhoods are included in the program:

  • Commonwealth Morningside Neighborhood Association
  • Enderly Park Neighborhood Association
  • Graham Heights Neighborhood Association
  • Grier Heights Community Improvement Organization
  • Northwood Estates Community Organization
  • Oaklawn Park Improvement Organization
  • Park Crossing Owners Association
  • Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association
  • Queens Towers HOA
  • Revolution Park Neighborhood Home Improvement Project
  • Washington Heights Community Assoc. Inc
