15-month-old child killed in car crash at home near Granite Falls

CALDWELL COUNTY, N.C. — A young child was killed Tuesday morning after being run over by a car at a rural home near Granite Falls, law enforcement sources confirmed to Channel 9.

According to multiple sources, a 15-month-old child was hit by a car around 10 a.m. at a property off Ike Starnes Road. Granite Falls is about 55 miles northwest of Charlotte.

Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the area and spotted investigators with the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office at the scene. It’s not yet clear if criminal charges will be filed.

The victim wasn’t immediately identified on Tuesday.
