CHARLOTTE — A teenager accused of stealing a car in north Charlotte and firing a gun while running from police is facing several charges.
Channel 9 was at the scene just after midnight on Thompson Road, near Beatties Ford and Sunset roads.
Police were called to the area after a woman reported that the 16-year-old stole her car.
Officers spotted him and said that while he ran away, he fired a gun.
Police took cover but did not return fire, according to CMPD.
They eventually took the teen into custody. He was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a handgun by a minor.
