Teenage son of Sen. Rand Paul arrested at Charlotte-Douglas

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested the 19-year old son of Sen. Rand Paul and grandson of former presidential candidate Ron Paul at Charlotte-Douglas airport.

Police said William Paul was intoxicated when he arrived in Charlotte from Lexington, Ky. on Saturday.

Officers said he was possibly served alcohol on the flight.

William Paul posted his bond Saturday night and was released.

Moira Bagley, communications director for Sen. Rand Paul, released a statement reading, "Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena; however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy and respect they deserve in a situation such as this."
