STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville man was arrested after deputies said they responded to a breaking and entering in Iredell County last year.
Jakob Treston Parsons, 19, was arrested after police said he stole an Amazon Fire Stick along with two firearms from a home on Ashbrook Road last November.
Police said the victim noticed the Fire Stick was being used to access his Netflix account when shows he had not viewed were being displayed.
Detectives said Netflix and Amazon were able to provide an internet protocol address from which Parsons was accessing and viewing the programs. From that, they sent a search warrant to the internet service provider for the account holder.
While waiting for the search warrant results, detectives said Parsons was identified as a suspect by the victim’s neighbor, who returned home and saw him on the property.
Detectives said the search warrants confirmed the stolen Amazon Firestick was used at Parsons’ home in western Iredell County.
Parsons was issued a warrant for arrest on Jan. 28 and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He was charged with felony breaking and entering a building, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony larceny of a firearm.
Parsons has made the $5,000 bond and is awaiting a court appearance.
