Wreck briefly closes lanes on I-77 near Nations Ford Road

Two of three northbound lanes on Interstate 77 were briefly shut down near the Nations Ford Road exit after an accident Saturday evening.
According to North Carolina Highway Patrol officials, a medical helicopter was called in but later canceled. Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers assisted in the crash, troopers said.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation website warned that traffic was heavy in the area near the accident and that traffic was only moving at 10 mph.
The accident was cleared from the interstate by 9 p.m.
Medic said paramedics are treating and transporting two patients for injuries described as life-threatening. Both patients are being taken to Carolinas Medical Center-Main, Medic said.
