4-year-old recovering at home after shot 5 times

EAST SPENCER, N.C. — The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the homicide of a 22-year-old man shot to death as he and his three children sat inside his car. His 4-year-old son, Keion Sweat, was shot five times and survived.

Kejuan Sweat was killed last Thursday after someone fired shots in front of his apartment complex on South Long Street in East Spencer.

Jeannett Woodruff is thankful her grandchildren made it out alive.

The 4-year-old's big sister, Jamiah, and his 2-year-old brother, Kavion, were also in the car that night. They only received minor injuries. Keion is recovering at home.

So far, no one has been arrested for the shooting death.

The SBI told Channel 9 they are looking at the possibility that Sweat's homicide could be connected to another 3 miles away.

Four days before Sweat was killed, 18-year-old Steven Rosario was found shot to death inside an apartment on South Fulton Street.

Woodruff hopes both killers are caught to bring their families some peace.

"The Rosario family needs peace, also my heart goes out to their family because he's somebody child that died also," Woodruff said.
