Action 9: Woman says car $1,900 car warranty worthless

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A woman said she was baffled when she had discovered the car warranty she bought for $1,900 was worthless.

Yvonne Sanders said My Car Solutions took her money but never paid the fulfillment company to activate her warranty.

"I just wish y'all could find out what's going on, because $1,900 is a lot of money," said Sanders.

The Federal Trade Commission shut down My Car Solutions for misleading hundreds of consumers.

A spokesperson from the FTC said there's no hope that customers like Sanders will get any of their money back.

Warranty Direct, the biggest seller of car warranties, offered to help.

The company has an  A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

"We wanted to make sure that you are taken care of," said Executive Vice President of Warranty Direct, Tara Williams.

The company gave Sanders a free two-year service contract worth more than $2,000.

"Even though I never won a lottery, this is a lottery; I am so happy," said Sanders.

According to Williams, Sanders' policy fully discloses what's covered and what's not -- something many warranty companies fail to do.

"We like to think we are the good guys in an industry that's not been so good," said Williams.

Sander's now has a warranty and a promise with a company that will stand behind it.
