Lanes back open after 1 injured in serious crash on I-77 in Cornelius

CORNELIUS, N.C. — A woman was airlifted after a serious crash involving several cars on I-77 southbound in Cornelius, according to paramedics.

Officials said the woman was pinned in a car and was freed from the wreckage before being taken to an emergency helicopter.

The crash shut down all of the interstate near Catawba Avenue, at Exit 28, around 9 p.m.

Northbound lanes were closed momentarily for the helicopter to land.

Crews cleared the scene and reopened all lanes.
