Ashe County commissioner charged with sex crimes with a child

ASHE COUNTY, N.C. — An Ashe County commissioner was arrested Thursday and charged with sex crimes with a child.

Larry Dix, 69, was arrested just before 4:30 p.m. and charged with four counts of indecent liberties with a minor.

Officials said the offenses happened between June 19 and July 1.

The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation’s Northwestern District began its investigation on July 3 at the request of District Attorney Tom Horner.

Dix is currently being held at the Alleghany County Jail, with bail set at $200,000.
