ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. - A 31-year-old man was killed after a wreck in Rowan County, according to Salisbury Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 1:39 a.m. Wednesday on Castor Road. Officials said Mandi Nicole Newton, 34, ran off the road and hit a tree.
Passenger Phillip Austin Baity, 31, was killed. Officials said he was not wearing a seat belt.
Troopers said charges are pending including felony death by motor vehicle and DWI.
