Officers were first called at 2:32 p.m. to the BB&T Bank on Fairview Road. They were told a man robbed the bank and then fled the scene.

Less than an hour later, police responded to a robbery at the Wells Fargo on South Boulevard. The man robbed the bank at gunpoint, left the bank and fired a shot, according to authorities.

Police said Casner drove off in a Chevy Camaro. A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, according to officers. The suspect refused to comply with officers and there was a short chase. Police said Casner ended up hitting a tree in the 2800 block of Phillips Avenue and was taken into custody.

Authorities said this is an ongoing investigation.
