CHARLOTTE — A bicyclist was struck and killed by an Amtrak train at about 7 a.m. Friday in the 9400 block of Old Concord Road in northeast Charlotte, police said.
Joshua Mallory, 31, was riding the bicycle on the northbound tracks about 900 feet away from McLean Road, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department stated in a news release.
The engineer saw Mallory and sounded the horn while braking.
However, the train didn’t stop in time.
Mallory did not get off the tracks and was hit. He died at the scene.
