Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Carolinas host day at lake in Cornelius

CORNELIUS, N.C. — Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Carolinas hosted its 18th annual Big Day at the Lake Saturday afternoon.

The organization said nearly 100 littles, ages 6 to 18, signed up to go boating on Lake Norman and cook out with their bigs.

“It’s almost a lifetime commitment that they bond,” Big Sister Liz Jordan said. “It’s really with their schoolwork, keeping them occupied and safe and giving them a learning experience.”

Big Brothers, Big Sisters said they managed to surpass their fundraising goal of $100,000 by more than $20,000.
