UNION COUNTY — Union County public schools officially started the search for its new superintendent Tuesday morning.
The school board met at 7:30 a.m. and spoke about whether to hire a search firm and whether the superintendent should be in place by the start of next school year, or later.
Channel 9 reported weeks ago that Dr. Mary Ellis announced her retirement as superintendent, effective June 1.
The announcement came just days after the SBI and district attorney closed their investigation into her company and a contract for school laptops.
Ellis does not face any charges.
