Body found inside car on I-77 ramp in southwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A body was found Monday inside a vehicle on the Arrowood Road ramp off of Interstate 77 in southwest Charlotte, officials said.

Authorities said the death was suspicious and were treating the investigation as a homicide, as they always do when there is a suspicious death.

The body was not in the driver's seat or in the trunk, officials said.

Officials have not released many details, but Medic said the person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the car had been in the location it was for less than two days.

The person's name and age have not been released.

Investigators have not said how the person is believed to have died.

The ramp was shut down during the initial phase of the investigation, which is ongoing, and no further information has been released.
