CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — A body was found in a wrecked vehicle near Cheraw State Park in Chesterfield County, according to deputies.
The man who died, identified as 48-year-old John Blake Rivers, was found in the woods off of Highway 52 Sunday.
Stacy Seymour was one the women who found the car.
“The license plate was stuck in a tree, and that’s what caught my attention,” Seymour said.
She called in the license plate, which belonged to a Mazda RX-8 that people across the area were looking for.
The car belonged to Rivers, who hadn’t been seen since early Tuesday.
The coroner told Channel 9 he likely died in a crash six days ago.
It’s not clear why the car left the highway. A full autopsy is pending.
