SUV crashes into uptown Charlotte salon

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An SUV crashed into an uptown Charlotte salon on Tuesday.

The vehicle went through the window of Style's By Angelique in Fourth Ward. It came within inches of people on both sides of the glass.

The driver only spoke with Eyewitness News reporter Jason Stoogenke. Sims said the accelerator stuck.

Stylist J'Mes Dixon was standing near Sims' car. Next thing she knew, it was coming toward her and another woman.

"She like waaaahhhh ... because that's how close it was," Dixon said.

"She was standing at the car. She literally just hugged the car," fellow stylist Darlene Robinson said. "He was already close to me when he backed up."

Robinson also said she had just walked away from the spot where the car ended up a minute earlier.

"I was standing right there," she said.

Robert Lawhorn said he had just left that same corner 10 minutes before.

"There's a God above. All I can say, a God above," he said.

No one was hurt. Police don't plan to charge or cite the driver.
