CHARLOTTE — Carolina Panthers Vice President of Operations Steven Drummond has resigned, as reported by the Athletics’ Joe Person.

The team released a statement on behalf of Drummond.

“With the changes this offseason, this seemed like a good time to transition to other interests,” Drummond said. “I have enjoyed my time with the Panthers.”

Drummond joined the team in 2005 and was part of the search committee when the team hired Matt Rhule, who was fired this past season.

A reason for Drummond’s resignation has not been released.

The Panthers hold this year’s first pick in the NFL Draft.
