The popular Carowinds wooden roller coaster, Thunder Road, will give its last ride July 26 at 10 p.m.
Carowinds is teaming up with coaster fans to say "ThanksThunderRoad" by offering riders special Thunder Road memorabilia to celebrate the historic coaster.
The park announced its plan to close the iconic coaster in May.

This comes after Carowinds fans created an online petition to keep the park from retiring the iconic coaster. The petition received over 5,000 signatures.
Thunder Road has offered nearly 40 million rides since its debut in 1976.
From now until July 26, the first 100 riders each day will receive a free celebratory Thunder Road button.
Then from July 13 to July 26, the first 48 riders on the first two trains each day will also receive a free celebratory poster of the infamous coaster, along with a button.
Visitors can also purchase souvenirs, including Thunder Road model sets, commemorative pins and shirts.
