CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Mecklenburg Library branches will start operating under summer hours Sunday.
The libraries will be closed every Sunday until September 13, the Sunday after Labor Day. The operating hours change as a way to cut costs and to reflect how the public uses the libraries during the summer. Because school is not in session, the library staff have found that homework resources are not needed as often on Sundays.
The change will only affect the libraries that normally open on Sundays:
- Main Library
- ImaginOn
- Beatties Ford Road Regional
- Independence Regional
- Morrison Regional
- North County Regional
- South County Regional
- University City Regional
Summer reading programs will start June 15. The libraries will also offer activities such as interactive art workshops, scavenger hunts, concerts and storytimes. (LINK)
The public can still access certain library services such as online account access and library book drops at any time.
