Charlotte organization hosts dance party to promote inclusion for people living with disabilities

CHARLOTTE — A Charlotte organization had a “glow dance party” to help promote inclusivity for people living with intellectual and developmental disabilities on Saturday morning.

GiGi’s Playhouse Charlotte invited the community to the first annual dance party at the AvidXchange Music Factory for their first fundraising event since 2020.

The organization is the only international network of Down Syndrome Achievement Centers to provide free therapeutic and educational programs.

Co-founder Christy Allen said it was the perfect event to celebrate everyone’s differences, with music, balloons, and dancing.

“That magic of music and play and enjoying the community, friends and family together. The perfect way to celebrate difference,” said Allen.

Gigi’s Playhouse started in 2003 and now there are 55 locations across the U.S. and Mexico, serving families in more than 80 different countries.
