Charlotte painter hurt working at Hickory hotel

HICKORY, N.C. — A Charlotte man is recovering in the hospital Thursday after he was seriously hurt while painting a hotel in Hickory.

Marty Short was taken to a medical helicopter and flown to Carolinas Medical Center.

A co-worker said Short was working on a lift when he was pressed into the eaves of the building.

Firefighters found him unresponsive with traumatic injuries to his chest.
