Charlotte Planned Parenthood protest draws hundreds

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Forty-seven states held protests at more than 300 Planned Parenthood sites Saturday, including one in Charlotte.

About 400 people turned out to the Charlotte Planned Parenthood on Albemarle Road to create awareness about the impact of abortion.

The recent controversy around Planned Parenthood started after undercover videos surfaced, claiming the organization profited from fetal tissue.

One of the event's organizers said she wants Charlotte to be a safe place for families.

“I feel like you can hide a little bit of poison in truth, and it's still poison. So whether there's a little bit of good or a lot of bit of good, what the reality is they're covering up the evil that they are doing trying to proclaim that they are doing good,” Celia Jimenez, organizer with Cities For Life, said.

Protesters said they want the federal government to pull funding from Planned Parenthood.

Planned parenthood has denied all claims.
