Charlotte region's newest craft brewery takes flight

The Charlotte region’s newest craft brewery celebrated its grand opening last weekend.

King Canary Brewing Co. marks a new career path for Matt and Andrea Gravina. The husband-and-wife team moved to North Carolina to take a chance on the beer-making business.

Matt is King Canary’s head brewer, leaving behind a career in forensic accounting. Andrea will handle design, marketing strategy and community outreach.

The brewery sits in a 4,500-square-foot space at 562 Williamson Road. That former two-story house had previously been converted for commercial use.
