Daughter of Charlotte woman going through chemotherapy asks people to take COVID-19 seriously

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Businesses have been forced to shut down, and large gatherings have been banned. These changes are in an effort to flatten the curve and prevent the coronavirus from spreading.

Judy Washburn is one of many trying to stay positive during this challenging time, and for her, it’s a little trickier.

Judy has stage 4 cancer and is going through chemotherapy, so she is immunocompromised, a population considered high risk during this coronavirus crisis.

“We pretty much starting quarantining immediately last week once it hit the U.S. Then over the weekend, I saw so many photos and videos of people going about their lives as normal at bars, restaurants and I was just so shocked to see," said Ali Reinhard, Washburn’s daughter.

>>> In the video at the top of the page, Channel 9′s Elsa Gillis spoke with Reinhard about why it’s so important that we all take this situation seriously.
