Charlotte’s oldest brewery changes course, signs with distributors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery has revamped its business model, signing deals with multiple distributors. That will allow the Charlotte brewery to expand its footprint across the Carolinas, says John Marrino, founder.

OMB will distribute its brews in the Charlotte market through Adams Beverages of North Carolina and extend its reach to the coast. Standard Distributors will handle distribution in Gaston and Lincoln counties.

It has been working with Tryon Distributing since last year to stock product in the Raleigh market.

Marrino says the decision comes as pandemic pressure has shifted sales from the taproom to grocery stores and other outlets.
