Man dies in Chester Co. wreck after car hits tree, bursts into flames

CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — A 51-year-old man died in a crash early Saturday morning in Chester County, according to officials.

The wreck happened just before 1 a.m. on Darby Road near Henry Road, the Chester County Sheriff’s Office said.

The man, driving a 2000 Dodge, ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree. His car burst into flames.

Officials have not yet released the man's name.

One neighbor said that this has been a dangerous road for years, and it's time for something to change.

“It’s a terrible intersection. I’ve been living out here since 1988 and I know there's been a couple dozen wrecks out here,” Jerry Houston said.
